Philosophical counseling is an educational approach to life and organizational issues and concerns that draws on the world's various philosophical and wisdom traditions. It is not psychotherapy or psychology. Many people benefit from examinations of basic assumptions and errors in reasoning that cause or contribute to life problems or set-backs or, in the case of organizations, stagnation and/or "corporate" cultural issues. Philosophical counselors all over the world help clients to address and overcome life problems through an analysis and review of these assumptions and errors in reasoning.
That said, the processes and methods of philosophical counseling, for individuals, can be fun and even joyful! Learning and exploration often are. Clients are not treated to sessions of logic-chopping or dull orations and pontifications, but open and honest dialogue, often with humor and narratives that help them to re-examine the problems, issues, or points of view that they believe require examination, re-thinking, or resolution. While exploration can be difficult at times, there is much to be gained in the process.
Feel free to contact me for an initial consultation, which will help you better understand my approach, as well as philosophical counseling in general.
